NEW FOR 2015:
- Reverse camera standard on LX trim
It’s hard to believe that Honda has been cranking out Civics from its Alliston, Ontario plant since 1988, and even harder to remember a time that the Civic hasn’t been Canada’s bestselling car (16 years, in case you’d forgotten). And while there aren’t any major changes in store for 2015 model year Civics, there’s no reason why it shouldn't lead the sales chart for another year.
The Civic Sedan is available in DX, LX, EX, Touring, and Si trims. A Hybrid version is also available, and is covered separately.
Other than the Si and Hybrid, all Civic Sedans use a 1.8-litre 16-valve single-cam four-cylinder engine that makes 143 hp and 129 lb-ft of torque. The Si has a more potent 2.4-litre dual-cam four-cylinder that develops 205 hp, 174 lb-ft of torque, and a zesty exhaust note.
A choice of three transmissions are available in the Civic. The base DX trim is only available with a 5-speed manual, while LX, EX have the option of a CVT. Touring models come standard with a CVT. The Si comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential. All transmissions drive the front wheels.
Features on the DX include 15-inch steel wheels, EcoAssist system, electric power steering, immobilizer theft-deterrent system, smart maintenance minder, power windows, rear-seat heater ducts, tilt/telescopic steering, six-way driver's seat, floor mats, fold-down rear seatback (one-piece), and four-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input. Air conditioning and an automatic are not offered on the DX.
LX trim adds, body-colour door handles and mirrors, expanded view driver's mirror, air conditioning with cabin filter, exterior temperature indicator, HandsFreeLink Bluetooth phone interface, intelligent Multi-Information Display with TFT display, power locks, rear armrest, remote entry system with electronic truck release, steering wheel-mounted cruise control, 60/40 folding rear seat, heated front seats, Bluetooth streaming audio, illuminated steering wheel-mounted audio controls, a USB port, and text message functionality. New for 2015 is a standard reverse camera.
EX trim adds 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, HondaLink assist automatic emergency response system, power moonroof with tilt, automatic climate control, LaneWatch blind spot display, speed-sensing variable windshield wipers, rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, power windows with auto up/down driver's window, proximity key entry system with push button start, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 6-speaker Display Audio system, two USB ports, HDMI input, and Siri Eyes Free compatibility.
The range-topping Touring model adds continuously variable transmission, 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, fog lights, automatic headlights, Display Audio with navigation, multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, 8-way power driver's seat, leather-trimmed seating, and satellite radio
The Si adds the uprated performance powertrain, 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, exhaust finisher, wing spoiler, aluminum-trimmed sport pedals, 6-way driver's seat, cloth upholstery, navigation, and a subwoofer.
